“From bench to the real world”
The ultimate goal of my research is to develop intervention technologies to remove pathogens in animals for the benefit of both animals and humans.  My team will use research findings acquired from the basic sciences (bench) to develop technologies to help humans and animals (real world).  To achieve this goal, my research areas are not only in basic sciences but also in applied sciences.  The primary goal of my research team is to understand molecular mechanisms of colonization and survival of bacterial pathogens in hosts.  We believe understanding host-microbe interactions will provide insights for the development of intervention technologies.  Another key aspect of my research team is applied sciences, which is to develop intervention technologies to fight against pathogens using findings from bench.  Therefore, two research interests are inter-dependent for the success of my research team.
