If you would like to become a part of our research by submitting samples from your horse please contact the lab at equinegenetics@ifas.ufl.edu Within a few days we will contact you and determine if your horse is an appropriate candidate for one of our studies. Sample submission is fairly fast and simple.
Most sample collection kits include a consent form and a basic information survey. You will also find instructions for collecting and submitting DNA samples from hair (or occasionally blood). We will also require a copy of the horse’s pedigree and a few profile conformation pictures. However, some studies may require more specific and detailed information.
Participation in our studies is kept strictly confidential; we do not release any of your information or results to other parties.
Please remember that most of these studies will take years to complete; however, once results are available, we will be happy to notify you.
