The Southern Equine Consortium Newsletter is a newly created, educational resource for Southeastern region equine owners and equine industry participants. Each issue features timely, research-based information related to the care, management, and enjoyment of horses and other equids. The development of the newsletter represents a collaborative effort between multiple Southeastern equine extension programs to extend knowledge to our readers.

2017 Equine Institute and Allied Trade Show

The Central Florida Livestock Agents’ Group would like to invite you to the 2017 Florida Equine Institute & Allied Trade Show! Sept. 21, 2017, 8:00am to 4:00pm. The theme for the 2017 educational program is "Filling in the Blanks." The event is being held at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, 2232 NE Jacksonville Rd., Ocala, FL 34470. This University of Florida Extension program, is committed to providing Florida Horsemen and Horsewomen with the most up-to-date equine management information, and a "working" Trade Show. Topics for 2017 include: Equine Nutrition: Fiber; Friend; or Filler; Equine Health: How Stress can affect the horse’s response to disease challenges; Neurological Diseases in Horses; Recognizing and addressing Equine Behavior Problems; Cedar Lock Farm, Run for the Ribbons and Thoroughbred Retirement (Live Demo); Experiential Learning Demos (20 min. rotations) Equine Vital Signs, Equine Genetics and Weed Identification.
