Beef Research Unit

The Beef Research Unit is located 13 miles NE of the main UF campus.  The unit consists of approximately 1,200 acres on flatwoods type soils and presently has 350 multibreed cattle (various Angus by Brahman crosses) and the UF purebred Brahman herd.  This unit is the home of UF’s “Brahman Project.”  Artificial insemination and embryo transfer from in vitro fertilization procedures are widely used for breeding these cattle.  The pasture grasses are Pensacola and Argentine Bahiagrass.  The unit has housing facilities for UF students who work at the unit.
