Dr. Saundra TenBroeck

Associate Professor
State Extension Horse Specialist

Dr. TenBroeck has served UF/IFAS as a Department of Animal Sciences faculty member since the fall 1985. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Clemson University and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in reproductive physiology from Texas A&M. She was hired as the Extension Youth Livestock Specialist: 80% extension and 20% teaching. Over the years her teaching role was increased to 40% then recently to 60% as she took on the responsibilities of undergraduate coordinator. Her extension assignment changed from youth livestock to youth and adult horse programming around 2002.

    Research interests include reproductive management, livestock entomology and health management.

    Teaching: Area of Speciality; Equine

    Dr. TenBroeck's teaching efforts include: Introduction to Animal Science, Horse Enterprise Management; Horse Judging; Management Practicum, Undergraduate Academic Advisement. She also serves on graduate committees and participates in grant reviews and editorial reviews, as needed. Dr. TenBroeck supervises Thesis and Non-thesis Master of Science Committees and Co-Adviser for Gator Collegiate Cattlewomen.

    Area of Speciality: State Extension Horse Specialist

    Dr. TemBroeck serves as the State Extension Horse Specialist, conducting both youth and adult equine programs. She is Chair of the State 4-H Horse Advisory Committee which gives direction to the State 4-H Horse Program. Dr. TenBroeck is a participant in multistate efforts such as Regional 4-H Equine Specialists, Eastern National 4H Roundup and Horse Quest, a community of practice in eXtension.
