Giving: Arena Signs at the UF/IFAS Horse Teaching Unit
The University of Florida/IFAS Equine Sciences Program was established to give University of Florida students hands-on experience with horse breeding, training, marketing, management, healthcare, and more. Students have the opportunity to gain experience at both the Horse Teaching Unit and the Equine Sciences Center. Offspring from the department’s Quarter Horse Herd are trained by students, then sold at the “Sale in the Swamp” event each spring.
THE NEED
The upkeep of the equine facilities takes time, labor, and financial support. The Equine Sciences Program consists of 2 farms and employs 7 full time and up to 10 student employees in addition to the program faculty. The program costs over $700,000 every year to continue to educate students, hold extension programs, and conduct research.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Your organization can purchase a sign with your logo to hang in the riding arena for three years with a donation of $2,500. The arena has about 3,000 visitors per year including stakeholders, students and industry representatives who will all have the opportunity to view your organizations sign. The 4 feet by 8 feet sign will assist in the maintenance of the facility and keep it running for years to come.
Thank you for your consideration. With your support, the HTU will continue to train leaders in the horse industry!
