The Department of Animal Sciences undergraduate teaching program provides students with education and training in animal agriculture. A Bachelor of Science degree is awarded for completion of the program. Students are prepared with the appropriate skills and knowledge to succeed in the animal industry or continue their education in graduate or professional school.

The Department of Animal Sciences offers programs in Master of Science, Master of Science (non-thesis), and Doctor of Philosophy. Each program is designed to provide advanced training beyond the baccalaureate degree. Upon completion, our students will be trained to conduct research, teach, and carry out extension activities in animal agriculture across the major animal species: beef, dairy, poultry, swine, and equine.

Certificate

The Animal Genetics certificate provides students a background in Mendelian, population, and quantitative genetic inheritance, in-depth knowledge of genetic improvement and management programs, and the application of genetic principles towards the improvement of the health and production of livestock and domestic animals.
