2024 Cow Sale

The University of Florida Beef Units will be holding the annual cow sale on November 16, 2024. This sale is open to the public and will be conducted at the UF/IFAS South Beef Teaching Unit located at 3721 SW 23rd St., Gainesville, FL 32608. 

Cattle Offered:

  • 9 Pregnant Crossbred Cows
  • 3 Pregnant Brahman Cows
  • 15 Open Brahman Cows
  • 15 Open Brahman Heifers
  • 4 Brahman Heifer Calves
  • 6 Brahman Sired Heifer Calves
  • 14 F1 Brahman x Angus Heifer Calves

2024 Sale Format

This year’s sale format will be as follows:

  • All cattle will be sold in individual lots. The cattle will be sold in sequential lot order. Data on the sale cattle (weights, breed, birth date, pregnancy status, etc.) will be printed and made available at the sale.
  • Cattle will be available for viewing in the pasture at the Beef Teaching Unit from November 12th through sale day. Please contact Jesse Savell (352-494-3397) to schedule an appointment to view the cattle prior to sale day.
  • Buyers should register and receive a buyer number on the morning of the sale. You can also pre-register by phone if you are unable to attend in person.
  • Reserve bids will be accepted from the 12th until noon on Sale Day. You can submit your reserve bids in person, by phone, email, or mail. Reserve bids will be accepted by Jesse Savell and phone bidding will be available on sale day. 
  • On the 16th at 1 pm, we will begin the sale. Each lot will be sold to the highest bidder. Bids should be placed in terms of dollars per head. Bids will increase in $50 increments. Any bid disputes will be settled at the time of the auction, before moving to the next lot. Bids will be acknowledged in the order they are received, with reserve bids taking precedence.
  • Lunch will be provided at noon sale with start at 1:00 pm. 
  • The University of Florida reserves the right to refuse any bid at its discretion. The University of Florida will establish a minimum bid for each lot. Animals that do not achieve the minimum bid will be marked as “NO SALE” and will be retained by the University of Florida.
