Undergraduate Research

ANS Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate research provides students with valuable hands-on experiences and important connections with faculty and researchers that can translate into opportunities post-graduation.

In order to participate, students must connect with a faculty member conducting research and receive their approval to get involved as an undergraduate.

Where to start

Explore ANS Faculty and their individual research programs and interests using the faculty page. Students are encouraged to see what interests them most and what might be beneficial for their academic and career goals. Talk with faculty members about opportunities that might be available.

Earning Credit

Students conducting research will be enrolled in 0-3 credit hours of ANS 4911, depending on hours worked/week. Students can request to be enrolled in 0 credit hours to have research on their transcript without earning credit. The ANS 4911 Undergraduate Research form must be completed by the student and faculty member. Then, students must speak with their advisor to be enrolled in ANS 4911 and to see if credit hours can be applied to their degree program. Please do so in plenty of time before the semester begins. Just like traditional classes, students must be enrolled before the end of drop/add, or there will be a late enrollment fee of $100.
